The International Conference on the History of Cartography is the major
international scholarly conference dedicated to advancing knowledge of the history of cartography,
of maps and mapmaking, broadly defined. The conference promotes global cooperation and collaboration
among scholars (from any academic discipline), curators, collectors, dealers and institutions through
illustrated talks, poster presentations, exhibitions, and a social programme.
Educational and cultural institutions have supported each conference.
Conferences are held every other year and are administered by local organizers in conjunction with Imago Mundi Ltd.
|
|
For the first time since the start of this
conference series in
1964,
Switzerland
will be the host nation.
Its multi-lingual culture makes it imperative that German and French be conference languages,
together with English. However, papers should preferably be given in English, so as to reach the widest possible audience.
